Senior Strength Training Specialist
Geri-Fit’s® distance-learning course, Advanced Strength Training Techniques for Older Adults (for instructor training and CEUs), is a unique training program that teaches geriatric healthcare professionals, group exercise instructors, and personal trainers strength training exercises to use with older seniors (age 75 or more). Participants who successfully complete this course, which has been approved by the American Council on Exercise (ACE) and the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA), will earn 2.0 CEUs.
The content in Advanced Strength Training Techniques for Older Adults provides senior care fitness professionals with help and guidance in working with older adults who need to rebuild lost strength. In fact, it is especially helpful for professionals who have clients with special medical conditions such as Parkinson’s disease, strokes, balance problems, and arthritis.
Recommended for candidates who are certified by a nationally-recognized fitness organization such as the NSCA, ACE, ACSM, or IFPA, and have either a minimum of 3 years of experience teaching group exercise programs or personal fitness training, this course is also suitable for individuals who have earned a degree in kinesiology, exercise physiology, physical therapy, occupational therapy, nursing or another healthcare-related profession. Upon completion of the course, candidates will earn the credential as a Senior Strength Training Specialist (SSTS).
