Dementia & ADLs: Online eLearning Course
This online eLearning course “Dementia -ADLS” introduces participants to Rose, an assisted living resident with dementia, and Emily, one of Rose’s personal care assistants. Emily offers guidance on how to make life comfortable and satisfying for residents such as Rose while assisting her with ADLs such as bathing and dressing. Rose, on the other hand, shares unique insight as to what people with dementia could be experiencing when they resist care. Caregivers can learn how provide appropriate assistance for these residents based on the resident’s level of cognitive decline.
This lesson teaches caregivers how to use empathy, compassion, and person centered care while assisting residents with dementia on their ADLs (activities of daily living). This lesson is designed to help you better understand the role of being a caregiver and to help you approach your work more successfully with residents who have dementia.
